Jessica Muise - Artistic Director
Jessica Muise is a dancer, choreographer, dance educator and permaculturalist based in Boston, MA. She is the founder and artistic director of Intimations Dance Company. She has a B.A. from New York University in Dance as Transformative Pedagogy and studied dance education at the graduate level at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa. Her choreography has been presented for the JOMBA! International Dance Festival, OnStage Dance Company and the Gallatin Arts Festival among others. Since 2006, she has taught dance for various community based organizations and schools including KZNArts Link, Flatfoot Dance Development Projects, Buckingham Browne & Nichols, Newton Community Education, and Boston's modern/contemporary series Moving Target, and founded several dance development programs that used the arts to educate about the environment, including the Magwa Environment Through the Arts Project. Caroline Carbo is a Boston-based modern dancer who has performed locally with Intimations Dance Company, Zoe Dance Company, Andary Dance, Echo Contemporary Dance Company, Ana Isabel Keilson, and Heartbeat at the Oberon. She graduated from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, under the direction of Miguel Lopez and mentorship of Jan Miller, and received her BFA, Magna Cum Laude, in Dance Performance from Purchase College, where she performed works by Robert Battle, Kevin Wynn, Megan Williams, Rosalind Newman, and Rosanna Seravalli. She moved to Boston from New York City where she worked with choreographers Marilyn Danitz, Kelley Donovan, Shandoah Goldman, Darlisa Wajid-Ali, and Jonathan Basla. She is proud to have performed at the ABUNDANCE 2010 Festival in Sweden, the Boston Contemporary Dance Festival, Choreolab at Dance New Amsterdam, the WAXWorks Festival, Artbeat Festival, Chashama Windows, CAVE Art Space, Symphony Space, Queens Museum of Art, and as part of the site-specific performance at the Flatiron Building 23 Skidoo. She has presented choreography at Green Street Studios as part of NACHMO Boston, at the Launchpad in Brooklyn with the Hoover Dam Collective, and at Green Space Studios in Queens as part of the Fertile Ground Series.
MaryRose Blandino hails from Eastern Massachusetts and is a graduate of Hampshire College with a BA in Dance Performance and Choreography. She grew up in the studios of Boston Ballet before joining the Five College Dance Department where she performed in works by Morris, Humphrey, Cunningham, and many more. Back in Boston, she's had the pleasure of working with Callie Chapman's Zoe Dance, Mariah Steele's Quicksilver Dance, and Nathan Andary among others. She wants to thank Jessica Muise and all the members of Intimations Dance for this opportunity to work, collaborate, and perform! When not dancing, MaryRose helps children improve their reading, comprehension, and beyond at Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes.
Emily Evans is a summa cum laude graduate of Connecticut College, where she double majored in Dance and Human Development with a focus on sensory integration. She has performed works by David Dorfman, Adele Myers, Daniel Nagrin, Lisa Race, and Colleen Thomas, among others. Additionally, Emily has studied under company members of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Ron K. Brown’s Evidence Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Twyla Tharp Dance. Emily has danced professionally for Luminarium Dance Company and Avid Zeal Dances, both based in Boston. In 2011, Emily was awarded the Tin Man Grant and accompanying performing arts fellowship at MASS MoCA (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art). Emily is happy to be working with Intimations Dance!
